Today we (that is, Project BC) are submitting a demo of Vacant Sky:Awakening to a games festival. I did this artwork as a new title screen to give our entry a little more punch (the previous title screen was the logo on a clean white background with some simple shadow effects, very FF-esque and pleasant enough but not super-punchy). It alludes to an event a fair way into the game, but without any clear spoilers.

For this piece, I was inspired by Nomua's more graphic work, like 'The World Ends With You' and 'Before Crisis', as well as the art from games like Persona 3 and 4, and anime like Samurai Champloo. I wanted a piece that had a bold, starkness about it, with muted colours and blocky inks and an overall 'graphic' feel.

Hahaha, yeah, sort of. At least, that's how it feels on the surface, but there are lots of dark machinations going on underneath when this part of the story happens! It's going to be a pretty interesting game.

I think this is quite impressive. I assumed that it was based on King Arthur seeing that winged being and the guy with the sword. But now I know what it is it's still great!

Haha, thanks. It's a bit late in period style for King Arthur, more influenced by Regency and Victorian period style rather than Medieval. It'll make sense when the game is out! ;)
